• Personality: Nathaniel is a cold, cruel and calculative man and some of his subordinates even call him sadistic and cynical, but only the cynical part is true though. The reason Nathaniel, or Mr Sinister, is describable as cold, cruel, calculative and cynical, is because what Mr Sinister really is, is a man of science and nearly obsessed with his research.
  
  Being so obsessive with his research as he is, he has found that emotions is something best avoided since they only distracts, and his research and schemes are far too important for distractions. The result is that to Mr Sinister, most emotions are alien and this fact makes him insecure whenever he is confronted with his own emotions. Mr Sinister’s old age has given him huge amounts of experience and knowledge. For example, a simple rule he has lived by and works by, is that the goal justifies the means. Such petty things as morals and ethics, they only hinder true progress and science. Something else his long life has taught him, is that patience is rewarded tenfold the effort and as a result, Mr Sinister can be terrifyingly patient, capable of waiting for generations for his experiments to bear fruit.
  
  Mr Sinister’s high intelligence does give him a somehow superior attitude since most people cannot even start to fathom the extent of his genius, and as a result, he often looses patience with his subordinates.
  Being so smart, actually has it’s downsides since many of Mr Sinister’s projects and research can be done too fast, and he will find time to recollect and reflect on his life and what he has lost to his research. At those times, Mr Sinister may mourn. And then it is back to his important research, since emotions is only hindering true science, right?

• Appearance: Nathaniel Essex stands at about 6'5" and weighs 285 lbs. most of this being muscles, as his athletic/muscular build reveals. Nathaniel’s skin is a permanent pale, bone-like white, though he is able to hide this fact through different means if he so wishes. If you looked at Nathaniel, you would most likely believe him to be around the 35 years. His eyes are either ruby or blood red, depending on the light you look at them in, and his has Long and black hair as well as an goatee. Nathaniel’s body language generally conveys dominance, control and composure.
  
  There is also a kind of creeping and unsettling kind of aura around Nathaniel Essex, his voice, calm and cold most of the time, unless he decides otherwise. Both his aura and voice can be made a lot more pleasant, if he decides so. One thing that some people with psychic powers will notice is the red diamond in Nathaniel Essex’s forehead, which will glow either at will or when he uses some of his more psychic powers.
  
  When in his natural armour and/or clothing, Nathaniel Essex is wearing completely black armour with a red belt and a red diamond shape on his chest resembling the one in his forehead. The armour is also made with a quite tall collared and torn cape. The inside is blood red as well, thus it should be quite obvious that the colour theme of his clothes and armour is black and red. The style of armour can vary greatly, with or without shoulder pads or a neck-piece as well as spikes on the gloves or another type of cape. It all depends on Nathaniel’s mood really.
  
  When he is disguised, Nathaniel Essex can wear pretty much anything, though he tends to disguise himself as either some kind of doctor or businessman. The clothes will in the case of a businessman be very stylish and up to date fashion-wise while the doctor disguise can vary from very neutral to kind of high-class, it will always be more practical than fashionable though.

• Powers: After Nathaniel Essex was transformed into Mr Sinister by Apocalypse he gained quite an array of powers, and through many, many years he simply used the genetic material of other mutants to grant himself even more powers in addition to his already vast array.
  
  Nathaniel is in possession of:
  
  Cellular Shape-shifting: The ability to control every molecule of his body, allowing him to assume the form of anyone he wishes. It is even possible for him to turn into a kind of liquid, though only for a fixed amount of time, this time being 36 hours. This power as well as several others is quite probably the result of self-experimentation.
  
  Regenerative Healing Factor: Nathaniel is able to rapidly regenerate damaged or destroyed tissue with much greater speed and efficiency than any ordinary human. Sinister can fully heal from injuries that result in massive tissue damage or loss such as multiple gunshot wounds, slashes, puncture wounds, broken bones, and severe burns within a matter of moments. Even severed limps is possible to handle, though it may take a couple minutes for him to do so.
  
  Superhuman reflexes, stamina and strength: Nathaniel’s reflexes are simply enhanced beyond the natural limit of an ordinary human being and his abnormal strength may be a product of his shape-shifting abilities. He is capable of press lifting within a 2 to 10 ton range. Nathaniel’s incredible stamina is only possible due to the fact that his muscles produce considerably less fatigue toxins than the muscles of ordinary humans. He can exert himself at peak capacity several hours before fatigue begins to affect him.
  
  Telepathy: Nathaniel can read minds and project his own thoughts into the minds of others within a radius of 180 miles (on Earth). With extreme effort he can greatly extend that radius. The Strength of Nathaniel's telepathy is also rather amazing, if he for example were to battle Charles Xavier, he may or may not be able to win. As a result of his enormous mental powers, a lot of Sinister's other powers have roots in those.
  
  • Mental Paralysis: The ability to induce temporary mental or physical paralysis from afar, another variant of this ability requires that he touches his foe, this version also enables him to mentally paralyse a foe he's touching. Of course, the stronger a foes mind is, the shorter time the paralyse will effect the target before they break free. The paralyse will in most cases work since it goes so fast, but very, very strong willed opponents may only be momentarily stunned.
    
    
  • Mind Control: Nathaniel is capable of controlling the minds of others but only one at a time and if the target is in his physical presence. Of course, the stronger the target's mental capabilities are, the harder the target becomes to control. Even a target under his influence can fight back, and strong willed individuals should be able to come back with moderate difficulty if Nathaniel have not been disturbed while they try to break free, in case of his mind being occupied elsewhere, it is naturally easier to break free. Magic, on the other hand, is something he cannot effect at all, so any spell that protects the mind would work against this ability.
    
    
  • Paralysis of Powers: The ability to mentally paralyse a foe he's touching and the ability to psionically "turn off" the superpowers of any mutant and possibly other super creatures as well. It should be noted that this paralyse is only in the subjects head, making the target's own psyche "turn off" the powers by convincing it that they are blocked. Any psychic or telepath as well as any spell-caster who knows about mind magic should be able to remove the mental "block", the difficulty of removing it depending on how skilled the individual is.
    
    
  • Telekinesis: Nathaniel also possesses telekinetic abilities enabling him to levitate and manipulate living beings, inanimate objects, and to some extent energy, psionically. He can “lift” as much as 8 tons of weight and possibly even more and can enable himself to “fly” at great speed.
    
  
  
  Concussive Blasts: Nathaniel can fire blasts of concussive force from his hands or from the diamond-shaped scarlet mark on his forehead.
  
  
• Weaknesses:
  - Mr Sinister is a very cold man with little to no friends, ruling and leading his subordinates through fear and pain rather than kindness and friendship, this makes it pretty easy to make people betray him, if they’re certain they can get away with it and survive.
  
  - Since his wife and children died, Mr Sinister has grown more and more detached from emotions, thus, whenever he feel anything besides malicious joy, anger or hatred, it can confuse him and make him make irrational actions.
  
  - Always working towards his own goals, almost never doing anything for anyone, at least not for free, means that Mr Sinister actually underestimates the power in teamwork.
  
  - Also, being so selfish as he is, it is quite possible to strike a deal with Mr Sinister as long as he get something he wants out of it, this making it very hard for him to follow orders or work with a team.

• Skills: Nathaniel Essex is a Genius-Level Geneticist of the highest order, he was able to predict genetic mutations and splice DNA.. He can also produce large amounts of clones as he has done with all his Marauders and even cloned Jean Grey.
  
  Nathaniel is a master surgeon, capable of excising a portion of a persons brain, only to later restore it if he sees it fit, just as an example.
  
  Nathaniel is also a Skilled Mechanical Engineer, having created devices that seem to have been taken from the tales of Jules Verne in a time where it was considered nothing but fiction. Which means that with the assistance of apocalypse, he has been able to create machines never seen before.
  
  Nathaniel, being as old as he is, has learned how the mind of men works a long time ago, making him a Master Manipulator. He possesses a good deal of knowledge in psychology, and is a skilled manipulator.
  
  Nathaniel is, in assistance to his shape-shifting abilities, a frighteningly good actor, having had a very, very long time to practice in.
  
  He is also fluent in several languages commonly used in most major countries, from Russian and German to Spanish, Chinese, Japanese and so on.
  
  
• History: Nathaniel Essex was a biologist in Victorian England who developed advanced theories on human evolution and was obsessed with Darwin’s theory of evolution, though he felt Darwin and his contemporaries were shackled by too many moral constraints. The first real notice worth mentioning of Nathaniel Essex works was while he was pursuing his own research in 1859, but up until then, he was simply a bright and gifted child.
  But in 1859, he discovered that humanity was undergoing increasing mutation, due to what he called “Essex Factors” in the human genome. His theories were mocked, making him bitter. His son’s death (at the age of four from numerous birth defects, including crooked bones & haemophilia) drove him deeper into his work.
  
  He approached many groups in search of funding but they all turned him down. As a result Mr Sinister hired a group of thugs and then named them Marauders, in order to kidnap people off the streets of London so he could perform experiments on them; he even went so far as to dig up his dead son and experiment on the corpse.
  
  Being a geneticist of unparalleled genius, Mr Sinister foresaw the coming mutations that would transform mankind. However, his unorthodox experiments resulted in his ouster from the Royal Society and caused his wife to shun him. Soon after these events, he encountered the creature called Apocalypse whom transformed Mr Sinister into an extraordinary being who never aged. The price though, was Mr Sinister’s remaining humanity. Thus transformed, Mr Sinister took on his name, “Sinister” the last word uttered by his wife to him as she died, after discovering the horrors he’d been engaged in (the stress also caused her to miscarry their second, unnamed child). In 1882, Sinister was present at Darwin’s funeral, wallowing in the irony that the man who was once vilified was being buried in Westminster Abbey, the highest Church of England. Soon after, he left for The United States.
  
  Sinister has conducted numerous experiments in his time; he operated an obstetrics clinic in New York in the late 19th century and performed side research on society's deviants. Renamed Nathan Millbury (an alias based off the name of the manor of his former wife), he had unrestricted access to an abundance of generational genetic material to study.
  In the 1940s, Sinister worked with the Nazis, earning at Auschwitz the nickname “Nosferatu,” due both to his pale visage and his habit of taking blood from everyone; he frightened even the Nazis. He often gave children candy in exchange for their blood as a means of bribery. Young Magnus, who one day would become Magneto, witnessed Nosferatu's actions. Since the day he became Mr Sinister, and up until now, Nathaniel Essex has researched and studied, because this is the one truth that will always exist about him, Mr Sinister desires research above all else in his world of genetics; bloodlines and gene pools are his chess pieces, himself the tactician plotting and orchestrating his plans through generation after generation.
  
  In recent years, with the growing mutant population, Sinister have been more and more busy. He has hands, eyes and ears on all sides, pulling strings he never expected to pull. As for his research, with so many new test subjects, who could complain? The world in general may say that there is Dark times ahead. To Sinister, the future have never been brighter.

• Roleplaying Sample: The pathetic sounds from the inmates, whimpers and sobs, the feeling of despair. none of that had mattered to him as he had strolled casually along row after row of holding cells. All these subjects, all there for research, for his projects and plans. One particular subject had caught his eyes though.
  A young girl, no more than 18 years old. She was beautiful, White hair, very pale skin, her hands made of a kind of blue crystal... And then there was those very clear, blue eyes, filled with fear, looking at him. Sinister would stop in front of her cell, looking at her as he licked his lips, a wide grin on his face. "I've found my new subject I think.." Her reaction was immediate, as the last word had left his lips she started to whimper in fear, trying to cover from him, hiding herself, but with no room to escape.
  
  Later, Mr Sinister entered a dimly lit cell, the soft sound of nervous sobs echoing as he circled the pale, beautiful girl, his eyes on her at all times as he trailed a finger along her tender skin. There she was, all tied up and placed in the most practical position for him to perform his experiments, shivering with fear and a heavy piece of cloth in her mouth to dampen her sounds. She was a perfect specimen, the fear in her beautiful blue eyes as she looked up at him, wonderful, and..inspiring."My little experiment..are you ready to proceed?" Mr Sinister asked as he closed in on the vulnerable and terrified girl, a content, excited grin on his face. Then the muffled screams started.
  
  Later, Mr Sinister appeared in the door to the cell, wiping his hands. two of his minions looked at him, attention and alert clear in their eyes, what was masters wishes? they almost asked. "Clean up in there and toss the remains into the re-constructional bio-pool. Then throw her in one of the regeneration-vats, I want her as fresh and unspoiled as when I found her, understood?" The minions nodded and entered the quiet cell, their master leaving as he headed towards one of the larger labs, looking at a vial filled with blood. "Incredible resistance to damage..crystallization of skin..A shame you aren't resistant to pain. well, once I get that sorted..you'll be an excellent addition.." and with a smirk, the man known as Mr. Sinister entered his laboratory, preparing yet another in a countless line of experiments, all to further the goal...of science naturally.
